The Local Plan (Part One) was adopted in 2015 and the Local Plan (Part Two) was adopted in July 2019.  The team have also supported the making of 26 neighbourhood plans, with a further 15 plans under preparation and three plans being reviewed.

The team are currently in the initial stages of preparing a new Local Plan, as well as supporting preparation of neighbourhood plans, preparing development briefs and undertaking monitoring and research.

The friendly and dynamic team area looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Planning Officer to assist with the preparation and implementation of the Local Plan, assist with neighbourhood planning, prepare planning documents and undertake monitoring.

We are looking to recruit a team player who can demonstrate knowledge and understanding of planning and a willingness to learn.  Relevant work experience would be an advantage, but this role will provide a great opportunity for you to develop your planning skills and experience.  You will work across a variety of different subject areas within a large and diverse borough which boasts an enviable natural and built environment.

This is a career grade role (Grade 6-8) with the grade appointed and progression through the grades dependent upon knowledge and experience.

You will be predominantly home based, with some work undertaken from a modern office within the heart of Chester and other office locations as required.  The Council is committed to embracing flexible and mobile working, ensuring employees can work remotely and promoting a good work / life balance.  There is a minimum annual leave entitlement of 26 days per year (rising to 31 days after five years continuous service), plus bank holidays.  There is also an option to purchase additional annual leave and a generous Council pension scheme.  The role would provide access to working rewards including childcare vouchers, cycle scheme, car leasing, Medicash scheme, discounted gym membership and other discounts.
