Cheshire West and Chester Council is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

Playing a key role within the structure of Cheshire West and Chester’s Legal Safeguarding Team and part of the wider Governance Directorate, the role of Children’s Safeguarding Solicitor offers the opportunity to work as part of a high energy, dynamic and friendly team within Legal Services.

As a Safeguarding Lawyer you will need to be flexible and pragmatic in your approach and have a strong desire to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young adults. The nature of the work is challenging but rewarding. The team is nurturing, and the camaraderie and support is second to none. The outcomes for children and young people make the job worthwhile.

The ability to work collaboratively as part of a strong team is essential to our success. However, you will also need the ability, where necessary, to work using your own initiative. In return, the successful candidate will be provided with supportive management with regular 1-1’s and opportunities to discuss cases and share ideas within the wider team.

Your training and development are a priority. Advocacy experience is helpful but a willingness to develop advocacy skills is more important as is an enthusiasm to learn and achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Cheshire West and Chester is a great place to work. We are a supportive and nurturing council, committed to developing and progressing our workforce.

The role is offered on a part time (3 days) permanent basis
