Market Operative

The Market Operative role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, security and overall upkeep of the market ensuring smooth day to day operations that support a positive and vibrant trading environment for tenants and assisting members of the public as required.

This position requires flexibility, and may be required to work across Cheshire West and Chester Markets on an ad-hoc basis.

Cheshire West and Chester Council are seeking motivated and dependable individuals to join the team at New Northwich Market. You`ll play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our new market and contribute to providing a vibrant, welcoming environment for traders and visitors. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • General cleaning duties across the market and dining area
  • Supporting daily operational tasks to maintain a lively trading environment 
  • Assisting traders and members of the public
  • Keyholder responsibilities, including opening and closing the market
  • Working at other market sites across Cheshire West and Chester on an ad-hoc basis 

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Flexible to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Customer focused, with a passion for delivering excellent customer service

We offer flexible working options, full time and part time positions and welcome all candidates that want to be part of a team in a modern, new market environment with excellent facilities. Training and ongoing support from the market team and opportunities to gain experience across the market sites. Experience in a similar role or team environment is desirable although not essential.
