Cheshire West and Chester Council brings a fresh and energetic approach to providing top quality services for its many customers and communities. West Cheshire is a place where everyone can Thrive – through our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money and Empowerment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join our ambitious, dynamic strategic transport team. Cheshire West and Chester Council adopted its local Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Strategy in July 2023, and has bold targets to become a regional and then a national leader in electric chargepoint provision by 2030. The Principal Transport Planner (Electric Vehicles) will be in the driving seat of achieving these targets, while also supporting broader transport decarbonisation policy ambitions. The role offers a fantastic opportunity to take charge of the borough’s transition to net zero transport by establishing and a long-term supply partnership which will deliver a boroughwide network of public and fleet charging.

If you have a passion for sustainable transport, are adept at building strong partnerships with key stakeholders to maximise delivery and you share our desire to translate our adopted strategy into action on the ground, then we would love to hear from you!

In return, you will be playing your part to support the uptake of electric vehicles and wider sustainable transport measures at a high performing council dedicated to combatting climate change. You will also receive 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, the ability to work flexibly and from home and have access to a range of benefits in terms of reward, wellbeing and development.

The role is initially offered on a 2-year fixed term basis. No candidate will meet every single requirement - if your experience looks a little different from what we've identified and you think you can bring value to the role, we'd love to learn more about you!
