Are you an experienced Building Control professional ready to take on a leading role in ensuring building safety and compliance?  Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a Principal Building Control Surveyor to join our dedicated team of professionals. This role is crucial to our commitment to upholding the standards expected by the Building Safety Regulator, for ensuring that all building work within Cheshire West and Chester  is compliant with the Building Regulations 2010 and that we fulfil our obligations as a building control body under the provisions of the Building Act 1984.

As a Principal Building Control Surveyor, you will direct a small team of surveyors and will lead on some of the more complex projects within the borough, offer expert advice, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. Your skills will be key in promoting safety and excellence in our built environment.

As an experienced Building Control professional, you will have a registration rating of at least 2F with the Building Safety Regulator and a minimum of 4 years’ experience working within a Building Control service dealing with a broad range of projects within the 2F category.

Key Responsibilities

- To lead a small team of Building Control professionals

-The post holder will be required to undertake licensed building regulation activities and to work without supervision on domestic and commercial projects whilst supporting others both in terms of workload and in career development

- Ensure adherence to the Building Act, Building Regulations, and directives from the Building Safety Regulator.

- Participate in the out of hours dangerous structure call out rota (Standby allowance paid)

Requirements:

- Must be registered with the Building Safety Regulator at Class 2F.

- Must have corporate membership of appropriate professional body

- Extensive experience in building control. Minimum 4 years’ experience

- In-depth knowledge of Building Regulations and allied legislation

-Must have access to a vehicle for work purposes and be able to work from home

- Good communication skills.
