Public Transport Planner

 The post holder will co-ordinate the operational activities involved in the provision and development of transport services and infrastructure, information and the customer proposition across our bus network. Responsible for the coordination and administration of day-to-day bus contracts and operations including Chester Park and Ride and our itravel on Demand Responsive Transport service. You will prepare local bus tenders and ensure a cost effective and cohesive network across the borough, that meets the needs of our residents. The role is integral to the success of our Bus Enhanced Partnership and will gather insight from a range of sources to enhance network performance and the design of local bus in the borough into the future.

An exciting opportunity to join our ambitious and dynamic strategic transport team 

Cheshire West and Chester Council is looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join our Strategic Transport and Infrastructure team. 

This role will shape the future of transport across our borough for years to come, working to deliver our ambitious Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) (and recent funding allocations), complementing our emerging Local Transport Plan, the Borough Plan and our climate and poverty declarations. You will work with our Enhanced Partnership, stakeholders and operators to deliver sustainable travel networks which tackle social deprivation and isolation, as well as building connectivity to employment and education and unlocking opportunities for all.  You will join the Council at an exciting time, helping to shape our next Local Transport Plan and future BSIPs which will ensure that transport and travel across the Borough plays its part in achieving the core missions set out in the Borough Plan. 

As a member of the team, you will gain experience and exposure across the team, gaining broad experience of policy development, local bus and rail.

The role is permanent, and candidates must hold a driving licence and have use of a car to travel for work purposes.
