The Cheshire West and Chester Council Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) department has recently undergone a huge transformation and is looking for a Security and Compliance Architect to be responsible for the security design across the Council's Digital, Data and Technology (DDAT) architecture, projects, and solutions to enable our business.

Cheshire West and Chester Council's DDAT department is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Security and Compliance Architect to be responsible for the security design across the Council's DDAT architecture, projects, and solutions to enable our business. This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly created and progressive team with big ambitions for the future. This role is a Grade 14, £62,080 - £68,657 (as of April 2024 pay band figures).
Responsibilities include:
• Leading and developing the vision, principles, and strategy for security for projects and solutions.
• Acting as a proactive member of the overall architecture services team in the Council.
• Developing and maintaining security standards for the council’s systems and services, maintaining relevant security documentation, and developing architecture patterns and security approaches to new and emerging technology to ensure the council has a defined, standardised approach.
• Developing and recommending security controls and solutions that support business objectives.
• Recommend approaches to Management Board and other key stakeholders across the Council
• Monitoring compliance with security standards and escalating risks where necessary.
• Advising on security related technologies and assess the risk associated with proposed changes.
• Contributing to the design and review of system architectures through the application of security principles.
The ideal candidate will have a degree level qualification or equivalent in cybersecurity and/or a computer science discipline, a post-graduate ICT/DDAT qualification in cybersecurity and extensive professional experience of working in the ICT/DDAT security field. They should also have demonstrable experience of working at a senior level in a complex organisation designing corporate security arrangements along with significant experience of Cloud and Network security best practice and practical implementation of this for a complex organisation.
