Shared Lives Carer (Self-Employed)

£600–£800 per week (long-term) | Up to £94 per night (respite)

We are looking for kind, caring and compassionate individuals to join our Shared Lives Scheme as self-employed carers.

This is a unique opportunity to support someone in your community while working flexibly around your own lifestyle, family and commitments.

As a Shared Lives Carer, you will open your home to support an adult who needs help with daily living. This could include:

  • Offering full-time, long-term accommodation
  • Providing short breaks or respite care
  • Supporting someone during the day or at weekends

You’ll help someone build independence, confidence and social connections by supporting them in everyday activities such as:

  • Shopping, cooking and attending appointments
  • Hobbies like walking, crafts, music or sports
  • Social outings such as cinema trips or community activities

Requirements:

  • Aged 18 or over
  • A spare bedroom (for long-term or overnight support)
  • Willing to complete assessments, including DBS and home checks

About the process

You’ll complete a supportive assessment process, including:

  • DBS check
